An ED refractor with a Fluorite lens element produces a superbly sharp and contrasty image, but the relatively small aperture and short focal length means that images have to be enlarged to a greater extent than, for example, a larger reflector or SCT. Ultimately, pixelation cancels out any advantage it may have over its larger cousins.
